Tom Ford Figue Érotique: the new fig fragrance

Figue Érotique does not treat fig as sweet fruit alone. Perfumer Shyamala Maisondieu builds the fragrance around Kadota fig, following it from green freshness to ripe flesh. Tom Ford places it in the Private Blend collection and classifies it as an amber fruity fragrance.

The choice of notes makes that intention clear. Kadota fig accord appears alongside Vert de Bergamote, fig leaf accord, muscovado accord, ylang-ylang absolute and vetiver essence.

Kadota fig determines the character of the fragrance

Tom Ford presents its Kadota accord as the central element of Figue Érotique. Maisondieu has said that she was first drawn to this fig by its unusual colour and by a character she found raw, floral and fleshy.

Vert de Bergamote and fig leaf hold on to the composition's green side. Kadota fig and muscovado add sweetness and density, with a darker quality closer to molasses than refined white sugar.

Ylang-ylang introduces a floral note, while vetiver provides dryness. Tom Ford's description of the Kadota accord also refers to resinous nectar.

A note list cannot establish exactly how sweet the fragrance will feel on every person. Temperature and the amount applied can affect perception, so the first few minutes on a paper strip are not enough for a considered assessment.

Tom Ford recommends one or two sprays on clean skin. The brand also advises against rubbing the area after application, because doing so changes the way the fragrance develops.
